DIY Anti-Rash Cream

It is a form of inflamed skin (dermatitis). It appears as a bright red skin on bottom. Diaper rash Appears when the skin is wet or infrequently changed diapers and skin sensitivity. Diaper rashes grow in warm, damp and moist places or red scales in the genital area of baby
Diaper Rash can result from:
- Irritated by stool and urine
- New foods
- New products
- sensitive skin
- Tight diaper
- Not changing diapers timely
- Not giving enough time to dry
- Moist and wet area
Prevention
Prevention is better than cure. We should take preventive measures to avoid diaper rashes. The best way is to keep the diaper area near, clean and dry. A few simple methods can be adopted to help in decreasing the likelihood of diaper rash on your baby's sensitive skin.
- Change diapers quickly Change wet and dirty diapers promptly. If your child is in day care, ask the staff faculty to do the same for your baby’s skin
- Rinse with warm water while changing every diaper you can use a basin or shower for this cleaning with water. Moist small washcloths, cotton balls dipped in warm water and baby wipes can aid in cleaning the skin, but be careful while cleaning it be gentle and soft on baby’s skin. Don't use wipes with harm chemicals like alcohol or with fragrance. If you want to use soap, there are many baby soaps you will select a mild, fragrance-free type bar.
- Let it air dry. Don't scrub or exfoliate your baby's bottom. As your baby skin is very sensitive do not irritate it by scrubbing it further.
- Don't tighten the diapers. Tight diapers hinders the airflow into the diaper bottom region, environment becomes damp and favorable for redness ultimately rashes. Tight diapers can also result in chafing at the waist or thighs.
- Give more time without a diaper. Whenever it is possible, leave your baby go around without a diaper. Skin would be exposed to air and it is a natural and simple way to let it air dry. To avoid messy accidents( poo or pee) , try laying your baby on a changing mat, plastic sheet or waterproof sheet evens a large towel and help in some rest time for drying the area. Baby will also feel relaxed. Air will pass through baby’s bottom letting the air pass through and no rashes ultimately
- Give oatmeal bath Give your baby a oatmeal bath. Grind oats make its powder. Mix it with little water. Fill a tub add oatmeal and let your baby sit in it for longer. This is going to be a DIY body wash
- Consider making a barrier regularly. If your baby gets rashes often, apply a barrier ointment or oil while changing each diaper, this will prevent rashes.Petroleum jelly and zinc oxide are the well known ingredients in many diaper creams.
- Wash your hands. Washing your hands can help us avoid the spread of bacteria or yeast to other parts of your baby's body and take care of your cleanliness too
People in order to protect your baby's skin and excess moisture used to apply cornstarch /cornflour, but nowadays doctors due to its harms are no longer recommending this. If this powder is inhaled this can irritate a baby's lungs
Diaper changing tips:
In order to avoid rashes we need to follow a healthy diaper changing routine.
First of all buy a changing mat
You can make a diaper changing basket in which you can place all the necessary things together.
Put a plastic sheet or water proof sheet under the baby
Wrap your baby’s bottom with towel and dry it
Let it Air dry
Use dry cloth to clean and tap to dry the area
When the area is clean and dry use any barrier
Barriers:
Applying oil and making a barrier is compulsory.
Baby oil
Olive oil
Coconut oil
Mustard oil
Corn starch
Corn flour
Petroleum jelly
Vaseline
Shea butter, cocoa butter and bees wax mixture of all these and a vitamin E capsule can be used as an anti rash cream
Application:
Just apply any barrier on a dry skin
A very Simple tip is to buy a coconut oil. Apply it on washed ( warm water) and dry bottom. Apply coconut oil every time you change the diaper. It is the best prevention.
Whenever you change the diaper of your baby make sure to clean the area with Luke warm water. Dry it completely. Give it some time air dry it. Let your baby stay without a diaper for 5-10 minutes. Then apply coconut oil, baby oil, olive oil or mustard oil whatever you prefer. Oil is must. If you want to put few drops of an essential oil in your oil you can put so that your baby’s bottom smell very good. If this routine is followed there wouldn’t be any chance of rashes. Moreover keep checking your baby’s diaper and change it as soon as possible.
