New mothers should take care of themselves after delivering baby. They should focus on their diet, health, mental and physical aspects. They shouldn’t panic about their weight gain. New mother should be relaxed and take it very slow. Mostly new mothers get post  partum depression due to so many factors.

First forty days are very crucial. You need to take proper diet and rest. You should and must have some helper or mother, relative, cousin and friends around to help you out in everything. How new mothers can take care of  themselves

1-Extra layering more sweating in winters
2- wear a belly belt immediately after a week on lower abdomen
3-Body Massage for 30 days you can have it on alternate days by body massage you will feel active and fresh even blood flow will be increased. You’ll feel energetic
4- Don’t forget to take your vitamin supplements post partum even after 6 months Iron Calcium Omega fish oil
5- Your eyes will be weak so do not use too much mobile no longer screen time

6- Take medicine for constipation you can have duphalac syrup or desi ghee and cumin
7- One litter water one black cardamom/ carom seeds/ darcheeni/ green cardamom now boil it all. Drink it slowly and drink it warm while sitting
8- No Spicy,Sour and sweet food
     You should take pumpkin, oats, broken wheat (daliya )daily one bowl fresh and warm
9- Eat panjerri ( mixture of grinded dry fruits )
10- Almond, cumin, desi ghee, jaggery with warm milk for quick bleeding in only 3 days for clean up
11-Walk slow

Take care of your Stitches clean that area with betatin in equal parts carom seeds (Ajwain)  water
let the area air dry then apply ointment
12- Clean your area pre and post feed with warm water
Eat a lot of dry fruits

warm liquids
Lukewarm milk
Hot water bottle as an heating pad
Massage with oil
Sleep on both sides
Fifteen minutes per breast keep changing sides
13- Pumpkin desi ghee spoon
14-  Walk in sunlight
15- Avoid eating Rice
16- Take an apple daily
17- A lot of mutton soup and dry fruits

Belly fat reduction drink
In Pan take two glass of water one table spoon cumin
 Boil it till water remain the half of it
 Now add one tea spoon of ginger juice and half lemon juice
One tea spoon honey
Drink slowly in the morning empty stomach

Quick tips:


Walk slowly and walk around daily. Move as much as you can 
Wear an abdominal belt on lower tummy 
Eat dry fruits, pumpkin /bottle gourd, warm milk, an apple a day, mutton soup, oats and broken wheat   mixture of grinded dry fruits and warm drinks 
Massage your body with oil 
Avoid eating Rice 
Do not rush into dieting. Take it slow. Give your mind and body an appropriate time to heal 
Feed your baby from both sides and wash it pre and post feeding with warm water 
Use heating bottles as an heating pad 
Drink syrup or medicine for constipation 
Do not sit on ground or crossing leg immediately 
Take your vitamins 
Intake fluids

Here are a few things you’ll need to gather  while you’re still pregnant to make your postpartum recovery go as smooth as possible:
  • Maxi pads for post partum bleeding from a week to 6 weeks 
  • Sitz bath.
  • Cotton underpants.
  • Nursing bras.
  • Breast ointments like fucidin or lanolin 
  • Nursing pads.
  • Lidocaine spray. It helps ease the pain of postpartum hemorrhoids.
  • Stool softener.
  • Postpartum recovery belt..
  • Heating pad


In some hospitals they give new mothers juices, ice cream and cold yogurt to heal stitches quickly you can take that as well. Whatever suit your body.
